Season 23 Week 4

We are now halfway through season 23.

We had a very impressive tournament this week.

I know I say it all the time, however, this week was the week to be playing at the VPL.

There was an incredible amount of action.

First let's start off with a picture submission.

Who could it be? Well it's our very own Hellmuth Jr..........I mean Joe

This week the VPL was host to 24 people.

3 full tables of poker action.

And action it was!

This week the following hands were seen at VPL for week 4:

Not too long after starting the tournament we saw quad aces.

Then deep in the tournament there was a straight flush.

Which leads up to the best hand of the night...........a Royal Flush!
and it was a a natural royal flush which means he used both his hole cards.

There was a royal flush also in week 3.

Here is the kicker to that: Both of the royal flushes put a player out.
The two royal flushes put the same player out both weeks.

Poor Angela fell victim to the royal flushes in week 3 and 4.

If you're going to get put out, it might as well be with that hand.

We did have $28 go to the Holiday Invitational.

With all of this great action, the real question is who made it on the lists:

First off, we start with the bubble list:

Slugger, Jason, Alan and Andrew.

Out of these 4 players there are two previous qualifiers (Andrew and Slugger)

Now whose name will be removed from this list and not appear on the money list:

That person would be................Jason.

Jason popped the bubble going out in 4th place.

Money time: Andrew, Slugger and Alan

When there is a 4th, it's always followed by a 3rd.

No exception here: it was Slugger who went out next in 3rd place with a win of $40.

Heads-Up: Andrew and Alan

Andrew and came into the battle the chip leader.

The final hand was crazy:

Andrew makes a move on the flop and moves all -in. (Alan has Andrew covered and this time)

Alan goes into the tank and thinks and thinks.............and thinks.

He finally decides to make the call.

Andrew showed 6 9 and Alan showed A Q

Andrew had flopped two pair

By the time the river hit, Alan had caught runner runner for a 4 card flush to beat Andrew.

Andrew's 2nd place finish earned him $102.00

Alan's win earned him the chip and $204.00

Alan has now qualified for the TOC.

Congratulations to everyone to made the money.

What will the VPL come up with next week?

You know the answer...........come and play

Good luck to everyone.

Season 23 Week 3

This week the VPL took a dip in the attendance.

Don't let that fact fool you. No matter how many players come, there is always great poker (except for the occassional river suckout).

This week, the VPL was host to 18 players.

We had a first in VPL history this week.

At the blind level 50-100 Andrew hit the river to complete a Royal Flush.

This is the first time the VPL has seen a Royal Flush in tournament play.

Good job Andrew.

As previously mentioned, there were 18 players. With this turnout, I thought the tournament would end relatively quickly.

I was wrong. The tournament didn't finish until around 12:45.

It was ironic because the bubble seemed to take forever to pop.

At one point there were three different people with the short stack.

The following players enjoyed the agony of this weeks bubble:

TC, Todd, Andrew and Steve.

With one mighty all-in and a call, the river brought us a winner.

The person who took 4th place and popped the bubble was Steve.

You know what that means: MONEY TIME

Andrew, Todd and TC

This trio brings us one previous qualifier.

TC made a move, in the dealer position, moved all-in with A 6 only to run
into Todd's AQ.

The flop brought drama because TC flopped 4 to the flush.

However the turn and river were no help.

TC went out in 3rd place with a win of $45.

We have one new qualifier: Todd

Heads-Up: Todd vs Andrew

This heads up was completed in only a few hands.

In 2nd place, with a win of $76 was Andrew.

Which means, Todd was this weeks winner with the chip and $153.

Congratulations to Todd.

We have a player picture submission this week:

This is a candid shot of our very own Jeremy and Frank:

Check out the points, Some players are halfway to there entry into the Holiday Invitational.

Come back next week and play.

Good luck.

Season 23 Week 2

What a way to start week 2.

There was a total of 25 people battling it out on the felt for their shot at glory.

I want to start off by saying thanks to everyone who came and made it on time to received the bonus.

Very Nice!

This week proved to be very tricky.

Out of the 25 players there were only 3 gone at the break.

When the play resumed at 25-50 there were still 3 tabless of players.

It was around 10pm that the tables were combined with 16 players.

The blinds kept creeping up like they know how.

Of course not all would survive the blinds and the all-ins.

With the elimination of these people brings us to the bubble.

4 names on this weeks list: Frank, Alan, George and Andrew.

It was the birthday boy himself who popped the bubble.

This week, Alan, went out in 4th place.

Money time was: Andrew, George and Frank

Among these remaining players, George was the only who had previously qualified.

It was George who went out in 3rd place with a win of $42.

That means two new qualifers for the TOC this week.

Heads-up brought us Andrew and Frank.

Because of the large turnout, both players were guaranteed at least $106.

First hand of this heads-up battle had an all-in but not call.

This set the pace for the rest of the game.

Not long after the first card was dealt the tournament was over.

The tournament ended around 12:45 with the last hand of 400-800.

In 2nd place, with a win of $106 was....................Frank.

That meant, week 2, the chip, and $212 belonged to our winner.....Andrew.

Congratulations to both Frank and Andrew for qualifying for the TOC.

* interesting side note: as of week 2, George has a 10 point lead.

Can he keep it up?

Will he return for week 3 or be blinded in?

Will there be two new qualifiers next week?

You know the answer...............come next week to find out!!!!

Good luck everyone.

Season 23 Week 1

This is it!

Season 23

This week the VPL hosted 21 people.

I want to say Thank You to everyone who came on time and received the $200 bonus.

This worked out very nicely.

With the 21 people turnout, this means that $24 has been put towards the Holiday Invitational.

Excellent way to start off Season 23.

Why are we here................to find out who popped the bubble, who made the money and ultimately..........who won the tournament.

People leaving the tournament started out slowly.

By the first break, there were still 3 tables left.

The final four were: George, Slugger, Jason and Clay.

Popping the money bubble at 12:03 am was Jason.

This left the money: Slugger, Clay and George.

The next person to leave the table didn't happen until 12:52.

This person, leaving in 3rd place with a win of $35 was Clay.

Heads-Up: Slugger and George

This was very interesting.

3rd place left the table and 12:52 and the tournament ended at 12:56.

Going out in 2nd place with a win of $89 was Slugger.

Season 23 week 1 had a winner and that winner was George.

For his 1st place finish, George left with the chip and $178.

Congratulations to Slugger and George for being the first two to qualify for the TOC.

Can he keep it up?...............you know the drill..............

Come next week to find out.

Good luck everyone.
