RULE CHANGES

I came up with the $200 on time bonus to get more people to come early so that we can draw and start at 7:30 (or as close to it as possible).

It hasn't worked out like I planned, which has led me to make the following changes:

There is still an on time bonus but you have to be PHYSICALLY at the house on or before 7:15 (that's 7:15 on my cable box).

Prepayments are still welcomed and encouraged but are not eligible for the bonus chips.

If there are any questions regarding this feel free to ask me.

Thank you for your time and have a great day.

The Board of Directors of Valley Poker League (Me and the Vieja)

Good luck everyone.

Season 22 Week 8

We have now completed season 22. And what a season it has been.

In the final week of season 22, the VPL hosted 22 people.

This week was as intense as it can ever get.

We had the points race which came down to 4 people.

The two points leaders (114 each) were both blinded in from the start.

The next two in line (102 each) were live players.

This has a very interesting ending.

This has been on of the most exciting seasons yet. I want to thank everyone who has participated in season 22.

Now down to the real business at hand.

The bubble list:

David, Andrew, Angela and Tim

The final week had a final pin and that pin belonged to Andrew.

Andrew had to say goodbye in 4th place.

Money time:

Angela, David and Tim

3rd place with a win of $37 went to: Angela

Heads-Up: David and Tim

David came into the battle the chip leader.

Being short stacked, Tim fought a good battle. It just wasn't enough.

Tim took 2nd place with a win of $93.

David won the final week of season 22 with the chip and $187.

Congratulations to Tim for Qualifying for the TOC.

David had previously qualified.

Okay to the points race:

James and Clay both were being blinded in from the start.

Both players were at opposite tables:

Both players were all-in essentially at the same time.

When the tables were evened out, the table with Clay on it had to re-draw for dealer. (they gained a player).

This re-draw caused the blinds to change. Clay was hit with the blinds before James.

Back to the all-in. Both all-in in the blind. James was all-in with $150 and Clay was all-in with $75.

The official ruling is: Because both players went out in the same hand, the player with the most chips going into it gets the points.

In this case, James had $!50 and Clay had $75.

Clay received 10 points and James received 11.

This caused the final points to be Clay 124 and James 125.

James had the most points at the end of week 8.

James wins the points (back to back seasons) with a win of $314.

Congratulations to James.

This season also saw 8 people get over 100 points.

Since Tim qualified this week there are 14 players qualified for the TOC:

The payout for the TOC (if all 14 players show up):

1st: $376
2nd: $188
3rd: $113
4th: $ 75

Out of the 14 players there are 6 previous bracelet winners.

Who will take the bracelet for season 22.

You know the drill...........................come next week to find out.

Good luck everyone.

Season 22 Week 7

This was a crazy week at the VPL.

This week the VPL hosted 24 players.

The points race was intense. One player was even blinded in all the way for points.

24 players meant that we started off with three full tables.

Within the first three levels we were down to two tables.

Combing tables before the break is almost unheard of, but it happened.

That caused me to think the tournament wasn't going to last very long.

I was wrong. The tournament ended with the blinds being 1,000/2,000 and ended after 2:00.

Before this tournament Clay was 4 points behind the leader.

Clay wasn't in town but paid and had his chips blinded off for points.

That move paid off for him.

He is now tied for the points race.

Next week is the final week and will determine who wins the points money.

Also, there was a 5th spot paid, so that money goes to the Holiday Invitational.

The updated balance is to the right.

Now to our favorite spot of the blog: Bubble time

The four players on this list were: Jason, James, Joe and Alan

Joe reached back and popped the bubble this week in 4th place.

Money time: James, Jason and Alan

The only person to have previously qualified with this three is Alan.

In 3rd place with a win of $40 was Jason.

Heads UP: James and Alan

Now this was one tough battle.

Blinds were $1,000/$2,000 when it was finished.

In 2nd place, and qualifying for the TOC, with a win of $102 was James.

That means that week 7's winner, along with the chip and $204 was Alan.

That makes 11 qualifiers for the TOC.

Who will win points next week?

Will there be any new qualifiers to the TOC?

You know the drill, only one way to find out................................come and play!

Good luck to everyone next week!

Season 22 Week 6

We will start 2010 off in the correct way.

The blog is updated right away.

The start of 2010 was nothing less than amazing.

This year began with 23 people who brought their money and a dream of winning it all.

There 23 people at the VPL, as a result, there was $27 which is entered into the Holiday Invitational Tournament in December.

With the new format, 3 people get paid.

There are 4 names on the bubble list this week and they are:

David, Clay, George, and Angela

With this array of characters, there are two previous qualifiers and two that have not.

Who had the magic pin.......

All you have to do is ask.

This week the magic pin belonged to Clay.

Clay exited the table in 4th place.

With this exit brings us to the money list:

George, Angela and David.

Will there be 1 or 2 new qualifiers this week?

The answer is...................................2.

Next to leave the table in 3rd place was David with a win of $39.

Heads-Up: Angela vs George

Going into the battle, George had the chip lead.

I have to say that this was the most see-sawed (yes that is a word) battle of the VPL to date.

At one point, Angela was all-in with only 1 bet left. George called and doubled her up.

Then we would have an all-in and a call only to switch about $8,000 in chips.

A couple of hands later another all-in and call. This time another $8,000 in chips would switch the other way.

This probably happened about 3 or 4 times.

The tournament ended with the blinds at 800/1,600.

With one last all-in and call..................................

It was George who fell short this week. George would finish the tournament in 2nd place with a win of $97.

Which meant that Angela took down the first tournament of 2010 at the VPL.

Her 1st place finish earned her the chip and $195.

Congratulations to both George and Angela for qualifying for the TOC.

The points leader board changed once again.

There are only two weeks left in season 22.

Do you have what it takes to play at the VPL?

Only one way to find out, we will see you next week.

Good luck everyone.

Season 22 Week 5

This marked the last tournament of 2009.

What a year for the VPL.

Excellent poker and some not so excellent poker.

This year marked some growing pains for the VPL.

2009 reached maximum capacity at the VPL.

Week 5 had 19 showed up to battle on the felt.

There were only 4 places paid. No payout to the holiday invitational.

This week's bubble list contained the following names:

Jeremy, James, Slugger and Clay

The final bubble of 2009 was brought by James.

James left the table in 4th place.

Money time:

Jeremy, Slugger and Clay.

Next to say good bye was Clay.

Clay's 3rd place finish earned him $48.

Heads-up: Slugger and Jeremy

These two players have previously qualified for the TOC.

Slugger came into this heads up battle as the chip leader.

The battle was fierce but in the end there could only be one.

Jeremy couldn't fight his deficit and finished the tournament in 2nd place.

His 2nd place finish earned him $80.

Sluggers 1st place finish, earned him the chip as well as $161.

What does 2010 hold in store for the VPL?

Only one way to find out. Come and play.

Every week brings us closer to the holiday invitational.

Good luck to everyone.
